Alleged Corruption: Court Remands Ngige In Kuje Correctional Centre

Published on December 12, 2025 02:03 PM

Ngige served as Minister of Labour and Productivity under former President Muhammadu Buhari's administration. The court has ordered his remand in Kuje Correctional Centre pending trial.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, in Kuje Correctional Centre over alleged corruption charges. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Ngige on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged diversion of N2.2 billion public funds. Ngige, who pleaded not guilty to all the charges, was remanded after the court heard arguments from both the prosecution and defense counsel. The case has been adjourned for further hearing while the former minister remains in custody.
